Description
Acceptable Solution E1/AS1 provides a means of compliance with Building Code Clause E1 Surface Water. Building Code Clause E1 ensures that the disposal of rainwater from external surfaces and confirmation surface water cannot enter the building.
It requires buildings and site work to be constructed to protect people and other property from the adverse effects of surface water. It sets out performance requirements to ensure drainage systems are in place for the disposal of surface water using gravity where possible, and to avoid blockages and leakage.
Scope
This Acceptable Solution is limited to buildings and sitework having a catchment area of no more than 0.25 hectares and which are:
- a) Free from a history of flooding,
- b) Not adjacent to a watercourse, c) Not located in low lying area, and
- d) Not located in a secondary flow path.
