Description
Acceptable Solution E1/AS2 provides a means of compliance with Building Code Clause E1 Surface Water. Building Code Clause E1 ensures that the disposal of rainwater from external surfaces and confirmation surface water cannot enter the building.
AS/NZS 3500.3, as modified by Paragraph 1.0.4, is an Acceptable Solution (AS2) for the design and installation of surface water drainage systems.
It requires buildings and site work to be constructed to protect people and other property from the adverse effects of surface water. It sets out performance requirements to ensure drainage systems are in place for the disposal of surface water using gravity where possible, and to avoid blockages and leakage.
Scope
This Acceptable Solution is limited to buildings and sitework where surface water results only from rainfall, and which are:
- a) Free from a history of flooding,
- b) Not adjacent to a watercourse,
- c) Not located in low lying area, and
- d) Not located in a secondary flow path.
