Description

Comprises folder containing a colour chart consisting of 237 colours, a chart showing their approximate Munsell references and text which includes explanations of the visual attributes, hue, greyness, lightness and weight. It is not for specification purposes and it should be noted that a colour is only a British Standard colour when it appears in a standard derived from it for a particular product or function. For colour matching purposes larger colour patches are published in BS 5252F. British Standards for colour ranges derived from BS 5252 are BS 4800, BS 4900, BS 4901, BS 4902, BS 4903, BS 4904 and BS 6770.

Scope

BS 5252 is the British Standard that establishes a framework within which 237 colours have been selected as the source for all building colour standards and the means of co ordinating them.
