Building Product Specifications and 16 updated Acceptable Solutions and Verification Methods are published.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has published the first version of the Building Product Specifications and new editions of 16 acceptable solution and verification method documents.
Building Product Specifications
The first edition of the Building Product Specifications document contains a list of 130 product standards and generic specifications that can be used with an acceptable solution or verification method to demonstrate compliance with the Building Code.
These standards and specifications have been assessed to ensure they provide an equivalent or better level of performance than currently set out in Building Code documents.

Updated acceptable solutions and verification methods
As a consequence of publishing the Building Product Specifications, 16 acceptable solutions and verification methods have been revised to cite the Building Product Specifications and published as new editions:
- B1/AS1 (Second edition): Structural provisions for houses and small buildings
- B1/AS3 (Second edition): Small Chimneys
- B1/VM1 (Second edition): Structural design of buildings
- B1/VM2 (Second edition): Geotechnical design methods
- B2/AS1 (Third edition): Durability provisions for building elements
- B2/VM1 (Third edition): Durability of buildings elements using in-service history, laboratory testing, and comparisons to similar materials
- C/AS1 (Second edition, Amd 1): Protection from fire for buildings with sleeping (residential) and outbuildings (risk group SH)
- C/AS2 (Second edition): Protection from fire for buildings other than Risk Group SH
- C/VM2 (Second edition): Framework for Fire Safety Design
- E2/AS1 (Fourth edition): External moisture provisions for timber-framed buildings up to 10 m in height
- E2/AS2 (Fourth edition): External moisture provisions for earth buildings
- E2/AS3 (Fourth edition): External moisture provisions for concrete and concrete masonry buildings
- E2/VM1 (Fourth edition): Cladding systems of buildings up to 10 m in height – including junctions with windows, doors and other penetrations
- G4/AS1 (Fifth edition): Ventilation of buildings and gas-fuel appliances
- G4/VM1 (Fifth edition): Ventilation rate and air purity
- H1/VM3 (First edition, Amd 1): Energy efficiency of HVAC systems in commercial buildings
