Description
The storage and use of hazardous substances is subject to Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 and Regulations, ‘Gazette’ notices and Group Standards issued under the Act. Buildings used for the storage or use of hazardous substances therefore must comply with that legislation as well as the Building Code.
These regulations prescribe classification criteria for each intrinsic hazardous substance property. The criteria for the classification are set out in Schedules 1 to 6, and tables showing all the subclasses and categories are set out in Schedule 7.
