Description

Acceptable Solution E2/AS3 provides a means of compliance with Building Code Clause E2 External Moisture for concrete and concrete masony buildings. Building Code Clause E2 requires external roof, wall claddings and external openings to prevent external moisture from causing undue dampness or damage.

It requires buildings to be constructed to provide adequate resistance to penetration by, and the accumulation of, moisture from the outside.

It contains requirements for roofs, wall claddings and external openings to: prevent water entry; prevent water absorption and transmission; prevent the accumulation of water; and allow for dissipation.

Scope

Concrete and concrete masonry construction with the scope of CCANZ CP 01, and that complies with CCANZ CP 01,will meet the performance criteria of NZBC E2.

It covers the weathertightness of the building envelope for:

  • Concrete slab on ground,
  • Concrete and concrete masonry wall systems,
  • Concrete flat roofs and decks, and
  • Concrete to timber construction junctions.
