Description
This StandARD Specifies requirements for commercially manufactured segmental pavers of up to 0.1 sqm face area and masonry units for walling. It includes masonry units and segmental pavers made from autoclaved aerated concrete, calcium, silicate, concrete, dimension stone and fired clay. Cited in the Ministry's Simple House Acceptable Solution
Scope
This Standard specifies requirements for the verification of nominated characteristic values of commercially manufactured masonry units for walling and segmental pavers of up to 0.1 m2 face area. The masonry units and segmental pavers include those made of the following materials:
- a) Autoclaved aerated concrete;
- b) Calcium silicate (sand-lime);
- c) Concrete (dense or lightweight);
- d) Dimension stone (cut or dressed); and
- e) Fired clay (with or without shale).
There are non-rectilinear shapes for walling and paving that are not illustrated in this Standard nevertheless, these are covered by this Standard with the provision that not all test methods mentioned may be applicable to such shapes.
Tiles that are intended to be rigidly fixed or suspended are not included in this Standard. Dimension stone has a wide variety of characteristics; these are not fully covered by the requirements of this Standard. The referenced test methods may require modifications for stone.
