Description
Verification Method E1/VM1 provides a means of compliance with Building Code Clause E1 Surface Water
Scope
This Verification Method is only to be used only if the territorial authority does not have more accurate data available from sophisticated hydrological modelling of the catchment undertaken as part of its flood management plans.
The approach provides a method for verifying that a proposed building will meet the requirements of NZBC E1.1,1 and E1.1.2 in the following circumstances:
a) The catchment area does not exceed 100 ha (but see Paragraph 1.0.6 for soak pits), and
b) The surface water results only from rainfall on the catchment and does not include water frm other sources such as inundation from rivers, lakes or the sea.
