Description
This bulletin is aimed at all those who machine, supply or specify timber claddings. It explains the factors that help resist water penetration in timber cladding systems and recommends weatherboard profiles that make the best use of these factors.
The profiles shown in this bulletin are for general guidance and are the optimum for all conditions and materials. All profiles, and particularly those for rusticated and shiplap boards, are a compromise between a number of factors such as material thickness, weathergroove size, coverage and cost.
Factors such as workmanship, the way the board is cut, underlay and fixings all have an important effect on the performance of the finished cladding.
