Description
BS EN 54 is a European Standard on fire detection and fire alarm systems. The main objective of the BS EN 54 series is to establish efficient safety and protection systems that play a positive role during a fire emergency.
The seventh part of the series that specifies requirements, test methods, and performance criteria for point smoke detectors that operate using scattered light, transmitted light, or ionization, intended for use in fire detection and fire alarm systems installed in and around buildings.
For other types of smoke detectors, or smoke detectors working on different principles, this part should only be used for guidance.
Scope
Smoke detectors with special characteristics and developed for specific risks are not covered by this part of BS EN 54.
