Description
This Standard describes methods for test the tensile properties of steel sheet and strip (less than 3 mm and not less than 0.5 mm thick), including the -
- definitions and symbols;
- form and dimensions of standard test pieces;
- test piece preparation and testing equipment.
Procedures for determining tensile properties at room temperatures:
- proof stress,
- permanent stress,
- tensile strength,
- percentage elongation,
- with appropriate proving tests.
The foreword gives guidance for drafting materials specifications.
