Description
This Standard specifies minimum requirements for the operation and maintenance of air-handling and water systems of buildings, other than sole occupancy dwellings, for the purposes of microbial control. It does not include requirements for refrigerated room air-conditioners and non-ducted split systems.
Scope
This Standard does not include requirements for refrigerated room airconditioners and non-ducted split systems.
Notes:
- In the event of an outbreak of legionnaire’s disease, special action will be necessary. This will be advised by the health authorities.
- Further information on the control of microbial growth in air-handling and water systems of buildings is given in HB 32.
- Design, installation and commissioning requirements are given in AS/NZS 3666.1.
- AS/NZS 3666.3 provides a performance-based alternative to the prescriptive cleaning requirements of Clause 2.5 of this Standard.
