Description
Acceptable Solution D2/AS3 provides a means of compliance with Building Code Clause D2 Mechanical Installations for Access for escalators and moving walks. Building Code Clause D2 provides for safety provisions for people using or servicing mechanical installations in buildings, such as lifts or escalators.
It ensures peoples safety while they are using or undertaking maintenance on mechanical installations for movement, such as lifts, escalators, and passenger conveyors. It requires mechanical installations for movement to: withstand loads required for normal use; be built to avoid accidents and injury; and safeguard people in the event of overload or emergency.
