Description
Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber panels are used as individual structural components for a wide range of applications including floors, walls, beams, stairs, and roof/ceiling systems.
Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) is a mass timber product that comprises treated, graded finger-jointed boards which are glued together in a cross-layered manner, where each layer is orientated 90 degrees to each other. Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber is manufactured typically in three to eleven layers, with a total thickness ranging from approximately 60 mm to 420 mm depending on the structural requirements.
Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber is manufactured from pre-graded, treated (H1.2 boron or H3.2 CCA) kiln-dried timber.
Scope
1. Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber panels are certified for use as structural components:
- a) in the design of buildings by a Chartered Professional Engineer with structural design actions determined in accordance with Verification Method B1/VM1 and with spans and wall heights, as applicable, as set out in the Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber Design Guide V1.5 September 2024, and;
- b) in applications described in Tables 1, 2, and 3 of NZS 3602:2003 as modified by the Acceptable Solution B2/AS1 and the Building Product Specification for radiata pine products up to and including H3.2 Level of Treatment, where the hazard class of the exposure and service conditions where the panel is located is H3.2 or less (as defined in NZS3640 Table 3.1) and;
- c) where exposed as a wall or ceiling lining, in areas where a Material Group Number of 3 or greater may be used (in accordance with clause C3.4(a) of the Building Code, and;
- d) where used as a floor and is coated with waterborne or solvent borne applied coatings not more than 0.4 mm thick and not more than 100 g/m2, in situations where a floor covering with minimum critical radiant flux of 2.2 kW/m2 may be used in accordance with clause C3.4(a) of the Building Code.
2. Junctions and connections between Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber panels and with other building elements are outside the scope of this certification.
3. Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber panels are certified for use by a Chartered Professional Engineer in the design of the FRR of building elements in accordance with the fire resistance ratings presented in:
- a) Red Stag Regulatory Information Report RIR2.2 Fire resistance performance of loadbearing CLT walls and floors April 2023 and;
- b) Red Stag Regulatory Information Report RIR1.1 Penetrations through Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber floor and wall systems April 2022.
4. Unloading, storage, handling and protection, preassembly check and assembly of Red Stag Cross Laminated Timber panels shall be done in compliance with the requirements of the Red Stag Project Guide V1.2 September 2024.
