Description

The FMIBI TL40+ Thermal Installation Method is a range of powder-coated, anodised aluminium windows and doors installed using a particular recessed thermal installation method. The aluminium joinery is available in a range of standard sizes, configurations and colours (refer to section10 below).

The units are fitted with triple glazing comprising of annealed or toughened safety glass on both sides and filled between glazed layers with argon gas.

The FMIBI TL40+ Thermal Installation Method is marketed under the Fairview and NEXT brands and manufactured by licensed fabricators throughout New Zealand.

FMIBI TL40+ Windows and Doors are intended for use as windows and doors in the buildings specified under "Conditions and Limitations".

Scope

1. FMIBI TL40+ Windows and Doors are certified for use:

  • a) in buildings with a classified use of housing in:
    • i. timber-framed buildings designed and constructed in accordance with NZS3604:2011 Timber framed buildings, and;
    • ii. light-steel framed buildings designed and constructed in accordance with NASH Standard Part 2: 2019 Light Steel Framed Buildings,
      and;
    • iii. buildings specifically designed in accordance with Verification Method B1/VM1, and;
  • b) located:
    • i. in wind zones up to and including EXTRA HIGH (as defined in NZS3604);
    • ii. in Climate zones 1 to 6 (as defined in Acceptable Solution H1/AS1);
    • iii. in any exposure zone except microclimates (as defined in NZS3604) and;
  • c) in the building envelope enclosing spaces where the temperature or humidity (or both) is modified.

2. FMIBI TL40+ Windows and Doors shall be installed in accordance with the installation manual FMI Building Innovation TL40+ Thermal Installation Method, Edition 2, October 2025.

3. Compliance with the following code clauses for buildings incorporating FMIBI TL40+ Windows and Doors shall be as follows:

  • a) for G4.3.1and G4.3.3, the calculation of window opening areas for Ventilation shall be in accordance with Acceptable Solution G4/AS1;
  • b) for G7.3.1 and G7.3.2, the calculation of window areas for Natural Light shall be in accordance with Acceptable Solution G7/AS1;
  • c) for H1.3.1 (a) and H1.3.2E, compliance for buildings shall be established by using construction R values for windows and doors in Acceptable Solution H1/AS1 Table E.1.1 with:
    • i. the schedule or calculation methods in Acceptable Solution H1/AS1, or;
    • ii. the modelling method in Verification Method H1/VM1.
