SHIELD Polythene Film™ is 250-micron thick and supplied in the following sizes:

SHIELD Polythene Film™ is used as a ground vapour barrier below concrete slabs in both residential and commercial applications.
Scope
1. The Specification and inclusion of SHIELD Polythene Film® into building design shall be carried out by a designer, architect, engineer, or building professional in accordance with NZS 3604:2011 and E2/AS1 and as per manufacturer’s documents, Shield Polythene Film (V1 11th April 2025).
2. Installation shall be carried out by a Licensed Building Practitioner, experienced in installing damp proof course in accordance with NZS 3604:2011 and E2/AS1. and as per manufacturer’s installation guidelines, Shield Polythene Film (V1 11th April 2025).
3. Building designers shall ensure junctions with other membranes, such as at the floor to wall junction, form a waterproof joint. These junctions have not been reviewed and are outside the scope of this Certificate.
4. During installation care shall be taken when placing reinforcement mesh or steel over the film to avoid punctures or tears.
5. All joints or tears shall be taped with a suitable PVC tape with a minimum width of 50mm. A membrane lap of at least 150mm is required prior to taping.
6. SHIELD Polythene Film™ shall be inspected for holes or tears before pouring concrete and repaired with patch and 50mm PVC tape as required.
7. SHIELD Polythene Film™ shall not be exposed to sunlight for more than 30 days.
8. Rolls of SHIELD Polythene Film™ shall be stored flat, away from sunlight and UV.
9. SHIELD Polythene Film™ shall be kept dry and out of contact with sharp objects during storage and transit.
