Description
UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation is made from sand and recycled glass and is non-combustible.
It is supplied in blankets and slabs of various thicknesses, R-Values and sizes, as detailed in NZ Catalogue – UET Fibreglass Insulation (ECO Brown Fibreglass Insulation), 08 February 2021 (please refer to Section 10 for product specifications).
UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation is suitable for installation in walls and ceilings in new and existing timber and steel framed buildings.
Scope
1. UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation is certified for use in any building located in a climate zone as defined by Acceptable Solution H1/AS1 Appendix C.
2. UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation shall only be installed in accordance with the installation instructions applicable to the product as below:

- b. UET United Insultation, Ceiling Batts Insulation Installation Guide, Version: UET-NZ-CBIG1014-02/25 Oct 2023
- c. UET United Insultation, Roofing Insulation Installation Guide, Version: UET-NZ-RRIG1012-02 edition/25 Oct 2023
3. UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation shall:
- a. be separated by 25 mm minimum from any rigid roof substrate or flexible roof underlay, and
- b. to maintain performance and durability, the product shall remain dry throughout its service life
4. UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation shall not block ceiling vents and installation of the insulation around lights, flues and other heat sources needs to be considered in relation to relevant standards and codes of practices. Product labelling and manufacturer's installation instructions shall be checked before installing around and over downlights, as well as ensuring NZS 4246:2016 for recommended clearances for different downlight ratings are applied.
5. UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation that has a foil face shall not to be used in building work subject to ban 2016/001 applies.
6. UET Glass Mineral Wool Insulation that has a foil face can induce condensation risk and the potential to accumulation moisture in building spaces. The design, application and installation shall meet the requirements of NZBC E3.3.1.
