Description
Alrite Plasterboards are paper-faced plasterboards for lining walls and ceilings:
- Alrite Standard Plasterboard is not intended for use as a wall bracing element.
- Alrite Moistureshield Plasterboard is intended for use in internal wet areas where occasional water splashes or high humidity are expected.
It is intended for use as a wall bracing element.
- Alrite Fireshield Plasterboard is intended for use where fire resistance is required. It is not intended for use as a wall bracing element.
Alrite plasterboards are paper-faced gypsum plaster-core sheets in multiple grades with properties to support specific intended uses:
- Alrite Standard Plasterboard is faced with light grey face paper, with two edge profile options -square-edge or taper on the two long sheet edges. Alrite Standard Plasterboard is available in 10mm and 13mm sheet thicknesses, with 1200mm width, 2400mm, 2700 mm, and 3000mm lengths.
- Alrite Moistureshield Plasterboard is faced with a green, moisture-resistant paper, with two edge profile options - square-edge or taper on the two long sheet edges. Alrite Moistureshield Plasterboard is available in 10mm and 13mm sheet thicknesses, with 1200mm width, 2400mm, 2700 mm, and 3000mm lengths.
- Alrite Fireshield Plasterboard is faced with light red paper, with two edge profile options - square-edge or taper on the two long sheet edges. Alrite Fireshield Plasterboard is available in 13mm sheet thickness, with 1200mm width, 2400mm, 2700 mm, and 3000mm lengths.
Scope
1. Alrite Plasterboards are certified for use in buildings:
- a. where the structure is:
- i. timber framed in accordance with NZS3604:2011 Timber framed buildings, or
- ii. steel framed in accordance with NASH Standard Part 2: 2019 Light Steel Framed Buildings, or
- iii. timber or steel framed specifically designed in accordance with verification method B1/VM1 (Amendment 15) using the structural design actions in AS/NZS1170:2002, and
- b. located in any exposure zone; and
- c. in areas within those buildings where the Material Group Number required by clause C3.4(a) is not greater than2-S.
2. The certification in #1(a) above is subject to the following limitations:
- a. only Alrite Moistureshield Plasterboard is certified for use as a wall bracing element,
- b. Alrite Moistureshield Plasterboard is certified for use as a wall bracing element in timber framed buildings only,
- c. Alrite Firesheild Plasterboard is certified for use as a component of a fire resistance rated wall in steel framed buildings only,
- d. all grades of Alrite plasterboards with sheet thickness 10 mm or greater are certified for use as a ceiling diaphragm when used as described in NZS3604:2011 Timber Framed Buildings para 5.6(b) and NASH Standard Part 2: 2019 Light Steel Framed Buildings para 5.5.1.
3. Alrite Plasterboards shall be installed in accordance with:
- a. the applicable installation manual:
- Alrite Standard Plasterboard Product Technical and Installation Manual, V1.4 Oct 2024
- Alrite Moistureshield Product Technical and Installation Manual, V1.1 Oct 2024
- Alrite Fireshield System Product Technical and Installation Manual, V1.3 Oct 2024, and
- b. when used as a bracing element, the Alrite Bracing System Product Technical and Installation Manual, V1.2 Oct 2024
