Description
IWD Floorboard is a structural tongue & groove board for flooring and as a floor diaphragm.
IWD Floorboard is structural grade particleboard flooring. Sheets are manufactured with a groove along each long edge and plastic tongue inserted into the groove along one of the edges. The ends of the sheets are square edged. The sheets are marked with the thickness of the board on the underside.
Orange tongue is 19 mm and intended for use in domestic and some commercial buildings, designed for both platform and fitted flooring construction methods.
Burgundy Tongue is 22mm thick to allow for maximum joist centre span of 600mm.
IWD Floorboard is available in the following sheet sizes:
- 3600mmx900mmx19mm Orange plastic tongue
- 3600mmx900mmx22mm Burgundy plastic tongue
Scope
1. IWD Floorboard is certified for use:
- a. in buildings
- i. designed in accordance with NZS3604:2011;
- ii. specifically designed in accordance with B1/VM1, and
- b. where the uniformly distributed floor load is not more than 2 kPa and the floor joist spacings are not more than 450 mm for 19 mm Floorboard (Orange tongue) and 600 mm for 22 mm Floorboard (Burgundy tongue), and
- c. in all locations except sleeping areas and exit ways in buildings where care or detention is provided (unless the building is protected with an automatic fire sprinkler system).
2. IWD Floorboard shall be:
- a. installed in accordance with the IWD Design, Installation and Maintenance Guide, V1.1 August 2024, and
- b. fixed with nails where it is used as a structural diaphragm, and
- c. protected by a membrane or other impervious finish when installed in wet and splash areas in accordance with IWD Design, Installation and Maintenance Guide, V1.1 August 2024, and
- d. protected from exposure to the weather within 5 months of installation.
3. The subfloor shall be ventilated and protected from external moisture.
