Description

The SelectSIP Building System is the design, manufacture and installation of the wall, roof and floor structural elements of detached and multi-unit dwellings. The SelectSIP Building System consists of composite wall, roof and floor panels, utilising a rigid type-S EPS polystyrene foam core between 10mm thick Prime-Vita reinforced Magnesium Oxide board facing material.

The SelectSIP Building System is a structural system of internal and external walls, roof and floor panels of detached and multi-unit dwellings.

The SelectSIP Building System requires roof cladding installed over roof underlay and battens fixed to the roof panels, and window and door joinery, to make it weathertight. These are not included in the SelectSIP Building System.

The SelectSIP Building System does not provide a fire separation element where an FRR is required.

Scope

1. The SelectSIP Building System has been certified for detached dwellings and within household units in multi-unit dwellings buildings: a designed in accordance with Select SIP (Prime-Vita) Structural Design Information V3, 8 July 2021 and manufactured and installed in accordance with the manufacturers Design and Installation Manual V2.0, 12 August 2022, and

  • a) within the scope of NZS3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings para 1.1, and
  • b) where the building height ≤10.0m and up to 2 storeys, and
  • c) with a roof classified as up to and including Heavy (as in NZS3604), and
  • d) situated:
    • i. in wind zones up to and including Extra High as described in NZS 3604:2011 – Timber-framed buildings, and
    • ii. in snow zone up to 2 kPa, and
    • iii. in any seismic zone, and
    • iv. in any exposure zone (except microclimates) as described in NZS3604, and
    • v. in any climate zone (as defined in H1/AS1), and
    • vi. not closer than 1 m from a relevant boundary.

2. The SelectSIP Building System panels shall:

  • a) not be used in direct contact with the ground,
  • b) not be used as a fire separation element where a Fire Resistance Rating (FRR) is required,
  • c) be protected from water by a supplementary wall lining or applied impervious coating system when used in a wet area.

3. External walls shall be finished with a wall cladding (direct fixed or over a ventilated cavity) or a high build coating system in accordance with the Design and Installation Manual V2.0, 12 August 2022.

4. Establishing compliance with the performance criteria in Building Code clauses H1.3.1(a) and H1.3.2E shall be in accordance with either of the following:

  • a) the calculation method in H1 Energy Efficiency, Acceptable Solution H1/AS1, Energy efficiency for all housing, and buildings up to 300 m², Fifth edition Amendment 1, 4 August 2022
  • b) the calculation method in H1 Energy Efficiency, Acceptable Solution H1/AS2, Energy efficiency for buildings greater than 300 m², First edition Amendment 1, 4 August 2022
  • c) or the modelling method H1 Energy Efficiency, Verification Method H1/VM1, Energy efficiency for all housing, and buildings up to 300 m², Fifth edition Amendment 1, 4 August 2022.

5. The designer shall provide a design statement for lodging with the building consent application:

  • a) confirming the design has been done in accordance with the Design and Installation Manual 12 August 2022 V2.0 and Select SIP (PrimeVita) Structural Design Information V3, 8 July 2021, and
  • b) with calculations demonstrating compliance with H1 Energy Efficiency.

6. The installer shall provide a statement for lodging with the application for a Code Compliance Certificate, certifying the SelectSIP Building System has been installed in accordance with the consented plans and specifications and the Design and Installation Manual V2.0, 12 August 2022.
