RK Horizontal is an external wall cladding system.

RK Horizontal comprises horizontal of either bevel back or horizontal shiplap and rusticated weatherboards direct fixed or cavity fixed on vertical cavity battens, stainless steel or silicon bronze cladding fixings and powder-coated aluminium flashings.

The weatherboards are available in Western Red Cedar, Larch and Truwood, and with a Band Sawn Face, Dressed Face or Dressed Faced Sanded finish. Boards are factory-coated in a migrating oil, stain or paint finish.

Scope

1. The RK Horizontal and Bevel Back Weatherboards are certified for use on:

• a) timber-framed buildings designed and constructed in accordance with NZS3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings, and
• b) within the scope of Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 Section 1.1, and
• c) direct-fixed, where the risk score is 0-12 (as calculated using Tables 3.1.2.1 and 3.1.3.1 of Acceptable Solution E2/AS1), and
• d) cavity-fixed where the risk score is 0-20 (as calculated using Tables 3.1.2.1 and 3.1.3.1 of Acceptable Solution E2/AS1), and
• e) located in any exposure zone (as defined in NZS3604) except microclimates, and

2. The RK Horizontal Shiplap and Bevel Back Weatherboards shall be installed:

• a) in accordance with the RK installation manuals and drawing sets:
  • i. RK Horizontal Weatherboards V1, November 2020
  • ii. Horizontal Weatherboard - 20 mm Cavity on Flexible Underlay - Drawing Set 12 October 2020
  • iii. Horizontal Weatherboard - Direct Fixed on Flexible Underlay - Drawing Set 12 October 2020
  • iv. Horizontal Weatherboard - 45 mm Cavity on Flexible Underlay - Drawing Set 12 October 2020
  • v. RK Bevel Back Weatherboards External Horizontally Fixed Wall Cladding System V4, October 2020.
  • vi. Bevel Back Weatherboard - 20mm Cavity on Flexible Underlay - Drawing Set 12 October 2020.
  • vii. Bevel Back Weatherboard - 20mm Cavity on Rigid Underlay - Drawing Set 12 October 2020.

• b) with wall underlay as specified in accordance with E2/AS1, and
• c) aluminium framed window and door joinery complying with NZS 4211:2008 - Specification for performance of windows
