Description
The Newton System 500 is comprised of wall and floor water & vapour proof dimpled sheet membranes, meshed for direct finishes or unmeshed.
The system incorporates PVC Basedrain, Floordrain & Baseboard channels to intercept and divert free water that ingresses into a below ground structure.
The Newton System 500 is an internal water management solution that once installed to walls and floors, protects against moisture vapour, isolates damp surfaces from internal finishes and manages free water that might enter the internal space of a below ground structure, managing and directing the water to a sump from which it can be pumped, or a gravity fed system to be removed away from the property.
The Newton system 500 can be installed as a remedial standalone system or within a new build.
Scope
1. The Newton System 500 shall be designed, installed and maintained as specified in the Installation Guide – CDM Systems 500 – cavity drain waterproofing systems – Revision 10.3 – 1st Feb 2024.
2. All Installers shall be approved and trained by Newton Systems Limited, and hold a current annual certificate issued by Newton Systems Limited.
3. The Newton System 500 shall be used as part of a cavity drain waterproofing or damp proofing system that isolates dampness and manages water away from a building. Water that is managed shall drain naturally using gravity, or diverted to a sump and mechanically pumped, the pump system shall operate automatically or controlled by a panel and provide an alert to building occupants in the event it becomes overwhelmed or failure to operate correctly. Battery backup systems shall be added to provide continual power in the event of a power cut.
4. The management of internal moisture, and the effects of possible condensation, shall be specifically considered by designers. Designers shall consider appropriate techniques for managing the safe egress of moisture vapour (such as control of the internal environment or use of a vapour control layer on the warm side of the insulation), and in particular the effect of moisture on any material in contact with materials below the local dew-point.
5. The Newton System 500 shall be designed by a waterproofing specialist who shall provide a signed declaration for inclusion with any application for building consent that all design conditions of this CodeMark certificate have been met.
