Description
This certificate covers COLORSTEEL DRIDEX® used as a cladding system in accordance with the scope and provisions of Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 for profiled metal roof with the variation that roofing underlay is eliminated from the construction.
COLORSTEEL DRIDEX® may be used in mild, moderate, severe and very severe coastal environments as specified in the New Zealand Steel Environmental Categories and Warranty guide, June 2024.
COLORSTEEL DRIDEX® is a ZINCALUME® coated steel substrate to which a double sided, factory applied pre-painted finish system is applied and a proprietary absorbent fleece applied to the backer coating.
Scope
1. This Certificate applies to COLORSTEEL DRIDEX® supplied for roof cladding only.
2. The profiles and minimum roof pitch for roof cladding shall be as specified in Profiled Metal Roofing Code of Practice Version 3 July 2023.
3. Roofing underlay shall not be used.
4. The lower ends of trapezoidal and trough profile COLORSTEEL DRIDEX® roof cladding roofing shall be turned down at the gutters where pitch is less than 10°.
5. COLORSTEEL DRIDEX® shall be installed in accordance with the COLORSTEEL DRIDEX® Installation Guide, August 2021 and only by suitably qualified or trade-qualified personnel. For information on accredited Installers contact New Zealand Steel Limited on +64 0800 697 833.
6. When used on a skillion roof, the following additional limitations apply:
- a. There shall be provision for unimpeded air movement under the roof from eaves to apex. Transverse flashings (ridge and apron flashings) shall be ventilated, using ventilated soft edge, or a proprietary ventilating ridge system.
- b. Electrical wiring shall be sealed where it penetrates the ceiling. Any recessed downlights shall be rated CA or ICF and be fully enclosed in a lined recess or be sealed at ceiling level.
- c. Permeable ceilings such as T&G timber shall be installed over an air barrier. A flexible wall underlay meeting the air barrier requirements of Table 23 of E2/AS1 (Amendment 9, Effective 27 June 2019) is a suitable air barrier provided the joints are taped.
