Description
The Neuchâtel Mastic Asphalt System is a polymer modified mastic asphalt applied over insulation board or a timber or concrete structural substrate in one or two layers to give a waterproof monolithic layer of up to 60mm thickness, depending on the specific application.
This product certificate covers the use of the Neuchâtel Mastic Asphalt System as a waterproof roofing membrane and as a waterproofing and paving system for elevated decks and car parks for cars, light commercial and heavy goods vehicles.
Scope
1. The Neuchâtel Mastic Asphalt System shall be installed using the traditional techniques for mastic asphalt described in the relevant Clauses and in accordance with the Neuchâtel Mastic Asphalt Technical Manual 004.
2. Timber substrate structures may be designed in accordance with NZS3604:2011 as a heavy roof, provided the mastic asphalt membrane does not exceed 22mm.
3. All plywood sheets must be CCA treated to H3.2. The Plywood shall be a minimum of 17mm thickness complying with AS/NZS 2269.0:2012.
4. Concrete and other specifically designed substrates shall be designed in accordance with verification method B1/VM1 (Amendment 15) using the structural design actions in AS/NZS1170.1:2002.
5. A separation layer shall be placed between the substrate and mastic asphalt topping.
6. The substrate shall be dry, with no sharp projections. All work must be carried out by Neuchâtel Waterproofing Ltd approved applicators (contact certificate holder for list of approved applicators).
7. The design and construction of the substrate and movement and control joints is specific to each building and is outside the scope of this certificate.
8. The weather tightness design of all junctions on specifically designed buildings is outside the scope of this certificate.
