Description
Blue Max® Original is a liquid rubber waterproof membrane.
Blue Max® Original is translucent blue in colour, with 46% volume of solids and has a dry film thickness of 0.19 mm.
Blue Max® Original is a liquid waterproof membrane for waterproofing internal or protected external surfaces for below ground foundations, basements and masonry walls applications.
Scope
1. Blue Max® Original is certified for use to waterproof below ground foundations, basements and masonry walls for buildings:
- a. located on “good ground” as defined by the Acceptable Solutions and Verification Methods for New Zealand Building Code Clause B1 Structure, First edition, amendment 21 (2 November 2023), and
- b. where the structure complies with the NZ Building Code or
- c. where the designer and installer have satisfied themselves that the existing structure is suitable for the intended building work.
2. Blue Max® Original shall be
- a. installed in accordance with the Ames Blue Max ® Original and Blue Max® White Installation Guide V3.0, April 2024, and
- b. top coated with a suitable acrylic paint where it is exposed to sunlight.
3. When Blue Max® Original is used to waterproof a below ground element,
- a. the element shall be:
- i. a concrete masonry wall designed in accordance with NZS 4229:2013 or
- ii. a comparable precast or in-situ concrete wall; and
- iii. backfilled with free-draining aggregate.
- b. Blue Max® Original must only applied to substrates with a moisture content of 18% or less.
- c. For applications where Blue Max® Original is placed on the external surface of the element being waterproofed, a protective membrane shall be used with the Blue Max® Original.
- d. The surface of the substrate being waterproofed cannot be more than 3 meters below the Finished Ground Level.
4. When Blue Max® Original is used as a vertical and edge waterproofing for a concrete slab on ground, the concrete slab shall be in accordance with NZS 3604:2011 or NZS 4229:2013
5. Blue Max® Original shall not be applied if the temperature is expected to drop below 0⁰ C within 24 hours of application or over wet substrates. Blue Max® Original is not suitable for application subject to high heat of 82⁰ C or more.
6. Blue Max® Original shall not be used beyond its stated batch shelf life.
