Description
The Stryum Aluminium Panel Cladding System is a profiled solid aluminium interlocking linear cladding system used as external wall cladding for all building types, subject to the Conditions and Limitations of Use detailed within this certificate.
The Stryum Aluminium Panel Cladding System consists of solid aluminium cladding panels with either anodised or powder coated surface finish consisting of interlocking profiles:
- Shadow 160, 200 & 300 (Single groove)
- Shadow 90/90 & 170/95 (Double groove)
- Seam 260 (Single ridge)
- Seam 130/130 (Double ridge)
Stryum Aluminium Cladding Panels are secured to timber, steel or masonry structures with concealed fixings, accessories supplied include S section battens, universal trims, shadow trims and seam trims. The Stryum Aluminium Panel Cladding System may be installed over flexible or rigid wall underlay.
Scope
1. Stryum Aluminium Panel Cladding System is certified for use as an external wall cladding on buildings:
- a. Designed:
- i. with Stryum S batten supports (maximum 600mm spacing) as nominated in the Stryum technical literature, and
- ii. in accordance with NZS 3604:2011 for timber framed buildings, or
- iii. in accordance with NZS 3404:2009 Part 1 and NASH Standard Part 2: May 2019 Light Steel Framed Buildings, or
- iv. in accordance with NZS 4229:2013 for masonry buildings, and
- v. with Substrate and cladding framing deflections not exceeding Span/250, and
- vi. located in Wind zone (NZS 3604:2011) up to and including Very High, or
- b. Specifically Engineering Designed by a Chartered Professional Engineer in accordance with B1/VM1, with the following limitations:
- i. with Stryum S batten supports (maximum 600mm spacing) as nominated in the Stryum technical literature, and
- ii. within the scope of application of E2/VM2, and
- iii. Substrate and cladding framing deflections not exceeding Span/250.
2. Stryum Aluminium Panel Cladding System is certified for use as an external wall cladding on buildings:
- a. with a flexible wall underlay or rigid wall underlay that complies with:
- i. NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, 4th Edition, 28 July 2025, Table C2.1.1 for timber framed buildings, or
- ii. NASH Building Envelope Solutions:2019, Table 23 for steel frames buildings, and
- iii. where a flexible wall underlay is used with the Stryum Aluminium Panel Cladding System, with the following wind pressure limits:
- SLS wind pressure: -2.5 to +2.0 kPa, and
- ULS wind pressure: -5.25 to +4.0 kPa, and
- iv. where a rigid wall underlay is used with the Stryum Aluminium Panel Cladding System, with the following wind pressure limits:
- SLS wind pressure: -4.0 to +3.5 kPa, and
- ULS wind pressure: -5.25 to + 4.0 kPa where non-combustible cladding materials are permitted, and
- b. located anywhere with respect to a relevant boundary, and
- c. when required, intumescent cavity barriers as specified in the STYRUM technical literature shall be installed in accordance with NZBC Acceptable Solution C/AS2, First Edition, Amendment 3, 2 November 2023, Section 5.8.5.
- d. located in Exposure Zones B, C & D (except for microclimates) as defined in NZS 3604:2011 section 4.2, provided all fasteners and fixings are in accordance with NZS 3604:2011 Section 4, and
- e. with aluminium window and door joinery that meets the requirements of NZS 4211:2008 and installed with suitable vertical jamb and horizontal head and sill flashings.
3. Stryum Woodgrain finish is not to be used on the exterior walls of buildings that have C3.5 & C3.7 requirements or where non-combustible cladding materials are required (the thicker Woodgrain Powder Coat finish has not been tested for Non-combustibility).
