Aluminium windows and doors for external use in buildings.

Smark windows and doors are a range of window and door products made up of aluminium alloy joinery fitted with double glazed insulated glass units (IGUs) and providing thermal break.

Products are:

  • Thermal break Fixed Windows
  • Thermal break Awning + Fixed Window
  • Thermal break 2 Awnings + Fixed Window
  • Thermal break Sliding Door (2 panels, S-F)
  • Thermal break Sliding Door (2 panels, S-F) + Awning Window

Scope

a. Smark windows and doors are certified for use in buildings:

  • within the scope of Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 Third Edition Amendment 10 (5 November 2020) paragraphs 1.1, 1.1.1, & 1.2.1, and
  • with claddings and details as described in Acceptable Solution E2/AS1 Third Edition Amendment 10 (5 November 2020),
  • located in:
    • Wind Zones (as defined in NZS3604:2011 Timber framed buildings) for each model as follows:
      • 2FW Fixed Window – up to and including High
      • A-FW Awning + Fixed Window – up to and including Medium
      • FW Fixed Window – up to and including High
      • 2A-FW 2 Awning + Fixed Window – up to and including Medium
      • SD Sliding door – Low
      • SD-AW Sliding Door + Awning Window – Low
    • all Exposure Zones, except microclimates (as defined in NZS3604:2011 Timber framed buildings).
    • All Climate Zones.

b. The following models of Smark windows and doors are certified for use in the building envelope enclosing spaces where the temperature or humidity (or both) is modified:

  • 2FW Fixed Window
  • A-FW Awning + Fixed Window
  • FW Fixed Window
  • 2A-FW 2 Awning + Fixed Window

c. Compliance with the performance criteria in Building Code clauses H1.3.1(a) and H1.3.2E shall be established using the calculated Rvalues as identified in the “Supporting information about description” section and the following methods:

  • For all housing and buildings up to 300 m2:
    • the calculation method (H1/AS1 para 2.1.3) for all models and all Climate Zones, or
    • the schedule method (H1/AS1 para 2.1.2) for all models and all Climate Zones except model SD sliding door in climate zones 5 and 6 and model SD-AW Sliding Door + Awning Window in all climate zones, or
    • the modelling method (H1/VM1 para 2.1.2) for all models and all Climate Zones
  • For buildings greater than 300 m2:
    • the calculation method (H1/AS2 para 2.1.3) for all models and all Climate Zones, or
    • the schedule method (H1/AS2 para 2.1.2) for all models and all Climate Zones except model SD-AW Sliding Door + Awning Window in all climate zones, or
    • the modelling method (H1/VM2 para 2.1.2) for all models and all Climate Zones

d. Compliance with the performance criteria in Building Code clauses F2.3.2 and F2.3.3 shall be established in accordance with Acceptable Solution and Verification Method for New Zealand Building Code Clause F2 Hazardous building materials First edition, Amendment 3, (1 January 2017).

e. Compliance with the performance criteria in Building Code clauses G4.3.1 and G4.3.3 shall be established in accordance with Acceptable Solution G4/AS1 Fourth Edition, (27 June 2019) for models with operable sashes and sliding doors.

f. Compliance with the performance criteria in Building Code clauses G7.3.1 and G7.3.2 shall be established in accordance with Acceptable Solution G7/AS1 Second Edition, (29 November 2021).

g. Smark windows and doors shall be installed in accordance with the Yelly Limited - Guide to Window Installation, Version 3.0 - 19 September 2024.
