Description
J-Frame is structural Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) gauged framing timber produced from Pinus radiata.
J-Frame available sizes are 90x45, 140x45, 190x45 & 240x45 (mm). Two strength grades are produced: J-Frame 8 and J-Frame 11.
J-Frame may be specified in building work designed in accordance with NZS3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings (as modified by B1/AS1, Amendment 20), or shall be specifically engineered in accordance with NZS3603:1993 Timber Structures Standard and AS/NZS 1170:2002 Structural Design Actions (as modified by B1/VM1, Amendment 20), and where hazard class H1.2 or less applies.
Scope
1. J-Frame has been certified for use in buildings
- a) where Hazard Class H1.2 or less applies and
- b) where the J-Frame is
- i. specified and installed in accordance with NZS3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings (as modified by B1/AS1 Amendment 20), or
- ii. specifically engineered in accordance with NZS3603:1993 Timber Structures Standard and AS/NZS1170:2002 Structural Design Actions (as modified by B1/VM1 Amendment 20)
2. J-Frame shall be designed and installed in accordance with the JNL Design & Installation Guide V4 2023.
3. The installer shall refer to Recommended Procedure for Testing Moisture Content of J-Frame LVL - December 2018 when establishing compliance with E2.3.6. (Refer to www.jnl.co.nz website)
