Description
The rules for demonstrating H1 Energy Efficiency compliance are changing. From 27 November 2026, anyone using H1/AS1 and/or H1/VM1 in a building consent application must use the 6th editions – the 5th edition amendment 1 will no longer be accepted.
This updated bulletin explains the two compliance pathways – the calculation method and the modelling method – and outlines thermal performance requirements for floors, walls, roofs, windows and skylights across New Zealand's six climate zones. It also covers key changes, including the removal of the schedule method and a revised wall framing fraction.
