Description
This Standard specifies electrical safety requirements, in New Zealand it is to be read in conjunction with NZS 6200 for the purposes of Clauses 2.7, 3.5 and 4.6.
The Standard applies to appliances designed to heat a room or space by conduction, radiation, convection, forced air circulation or any combination of these, and includes fixed and includes fixed and portable heaters and thermal storage heaters.
It does not apply to air-conditioning appliances (see NZS/AS 3179), heated room surfaces (floor, wall or ceiling), infrared or ultraviolet devices for therapeutic or industrial purposes, nor to electric duct heaters (AS 3102).
