Description
This Standard specifies product requirements for the purpose of quality control in manufacture and the performance requirements in application of particleboard flooring intended to be installed in accordance with AS 1860.
Scope
This Standard specifies the product requirements for particleboard flooring.
Two classes of flooring are specified as follows:
- (a) Class 1 flooring For use in Australia and in regions with prolonged exposure to ambient temperature above 25°C under moist conditions, during construction.
- (b) Class 2 flooring For use in regions where resistance to prolonged extremes of moisture or dampness is not necessary. NOTE: Class 2 flooring is not suitable for use in Australia.
In addition, the above two classes of particleboard flooring may be treated, or manufactured in a way, to provide protection against potentially destructive organisms or elements. The following designations shall apply:
- (i) F—fungi resistant.
- (ii) H2—termite resistant.
- (iii) FR—fire retardant. FR particleboard flooring is designed to provide improved index of early fire hazard.
