Description

This Standard describes methods for the derivation of basic working loads (resistance to withdrawal and lateral deformation at joints) of a variety of types of fastener, including nails, staples and screws; toothed and plain ring connectors; predrilled and toothed metal gusset and splice plates; and predrilled brackets.

It covers sampling of fasteners and timber, and test procedures under standard and non-standard test conditions. Methods for determining density of timber and for computing the mean standard deviation of individual results and 1 percent lower probability limit are given in appendices.
