Description
This Standard sets out a method for determining the hard dry condition of paint films.
NOTES:
- Because of the great variety of paints and the different types of deformation, the method does not attempt to specify an end point. That has been left to the appropriate product specification.
- This test should not be undertaken until the paint film has dried beyond the surface dry condition (see AS 1580.401.1).
- The terms ‘hard dry’ has not absolute meaning. The method simulates, under controlled conditions, the effect of a thumb being pressed against a paint film while being rotated through 270°.
