Description
This Standard sapecifies requirements for the design of, methods of verification for and information to be provided with vehicle-loading cranes.
Scope
This Standard specifies minimum requirements for the design, calculation, examination and testing of powered vehicle-loading cranes (VLCs) and their mountings, as defined in AS 2549. It also covers requirements for cranes primarily designed to be used as vehicle-loading cranes that are mounted on a static foundation.
Appendices provide a list of significant hazards, examples of configurations, alternative structural calculations, requirements for installation, requirements for the rated capacity limiter, examples of motions that increase load moment, symbols for controls, sample layouts for controls, requirements for cabins and the method for the determination of the accuracy of the rated capacity limiter.
Note: The hazards covered by this Standard are identified in Appendix A.
This Standard does not apply to statically mounted vehicle-loading cranes used on board ships, or manually operated VLCs.
