Description

This Standard includes provisions for blended hydraulic cement containing natural pozzolan, and requirements for pozzolans that may be added directly to concrete or used to manufacture Type GB cement.

The previous edition to this Standard, NZS 3123:1974, specified requirements for Portland pozzolan cement (Type PP cement), including requirements for the pozzolan component of the cement. In response to the more recent practice to adding pozzolan directly to the concrete, and to align with the AS 3582 series of standard specifications for supplementary cementitious materials, the 2009 revision specifies requirements for pozzolans only. Type PP cement as defined by NZS 3123:1974 is now covered by the requirements of NZS 3122:2009 Type GB.
