Description

The EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) has prepared this generic Guide Standard for use as guidelines when specifying glass fiber mesh for use with Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems, Class PB. (Hereinafter referred to EIFS or System.)

Specific installation instructions and procedures for each particular system must be obtained from the manufacturer supplying the materials. EIMA does not endorse any particular system or make any recommendations in regard to a specific manufacturers products or application procedure. It is the sole responsibility of the manufacturer to provide all parties with specific recommendations regarding their product application and limitations.

NOTE: This specification is intended as a guideline for experienced specification writers only, and is not intended to be used verbatim as an actual specification. It must be integrated into and coordinated with the procedures of each architectural firm, product manufacturer, and the requirements of the specific project. It is intended solely to cover the exterior insulation portion of the building and assumed that the exterior insulation and finish system is being applied to a sound substrate.

Scope

This guide covers the inclusion of resin coated, glass fiber mesh in exterior insulation and finish systems (EIFS). When embedded in the base coat mixture, the glass fiber reinforcing mesh provides lamina continuity, helps to prevent cracks and increases impact resistance.

The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. Information/values given in parentheses are for information only.
