Slippery walking surfaces can be hazardous. Every year ACC pays out many millions of dollars for injuries suffered as a result of falls on the same level due to ‘slipping, tripping or stumbling’. Building users expect buildings to be safe, and the Building Code therefore includes a requirement for walking surfaces on building access routes to be slip-resistant.
