Description

This Standard provides essential requirements and deemed-to-comply solutions, to promote uniform standards of gas installation and to provide a stand-alone standard for LP Gas installations in caravans and boats for non-propulsive purposes.

Legislative changes in 1992 removed the responsibility for inspection and certification of gas installations from the gas suppliers and instituted a regime of gas certification by a person authorised under the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006. Section 1 of this standard details the scope and general aspects of a gas installation that contribute to its safety. Section 2 outlines performance-based design and other essential requirements that must be met to ensure the safety of gas installations. Sections 3 to 9 specify the means of compliance for installations within the limitations of section 2.

Gas installations must be undertaken only by persons authorised under the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Act 2006.
