Description

This Standard sets out two methods for determining the density of veneer and plywood, as follows:

-Method 1 is based on the measurement of volume and mass.  The ratio of the mass of the test piece to its volume is determined and expressed in kilograms per cubic metre.  It is capable of giving results for any density, and

-Method 2 is intended for comparative purposes only.  The test piece is floated in water and its submergence is measured. The amount of submergence is used for comparative purposes only as values are liable to be overestimated owing to the effect of the meniscus.  It is suitable only for veneers of a density below 900 kg/m3.
