Description
This determination arises from the decision of the authority to refuse to issue code compliance certificates for alterations and additions to a house undertaken under two building consents. The refusal arose because the authority is not satisfied that the building work: complies with the durability provisions of the Building Code, considering the age of the building work completed from 1993 to 1998 and complies with other relevant clauses of the Building Code. Also the authority has no records of inspections during construction of the alterations. The matter to be determined is therefore whether the authority was correct to refuse to issue code compliance certificates for the alterations. In deciding this, the following must be considered: 1-Whether the alterations to this house comply with the relevant clauses of the Building Code; 2-Whether the building elements comply with Clause B2 Durability of the Building Code, taking into account the ages of the alterations.
