Description

The DINEX Building Design Method is a controlled design method for creating site-specific plans and specifications, as defined by S7 of the Building Act 2004, for building consent application, and post consent alterations.

Scope

The DINEX Building Design Method is a controlled design method for creating site specific plans and specifications for building consent applications, and post consent alterations.

The DINEX Building Design Method may be applied to buildings of the following classified uses:

  • Housing (Building Code Clauses A1 2.0.2, 2.0.3, 2.0.4)
  • Communal Residential (Building Code Clause A1 3.0.2)
  • Outbuildings (Building Code Clause A1 7.0.1) limited to garages, carports.
  • Ancillary (Building Code Clause A1 8.0.1) limited to retaining walls, fences, free standing outdoor fireplace, and detached decking and pergolas

That meet all of the following requirements

  • Building height less than 10m, design risk score <20 when calculated using the E2/AS1 risk matrix
  • For all seismic, snow, wind and corrosion exposure zones, as defined in NZS3604:2011 Timber-framed buildings and all climate zones, as defined in NZS 4218:2009 Thermal insulation - Housing and small buildings

The DINEX Building Design Method may be applied to those Communal Residential buildings for which access and facilities for people with disabilities are required. Swimming pool design and fencing of a swimming pool are excluded from the CodeMark certificate.
