Description
Acceptable Solution D2/AS2 provides a means of compliance with Building Code Clause D2 Mechanical Installations for Access for platform and low-speed lifts.
Building Code Clause D2 provides for safety provisions for people using or servicing mechanical installations in buildings, such as lifts or escalators.
It ensures people's safety while they are using or undertaking maintenance on mechanical installations for movement, such as lifts, escalators, and passenger conveyors.
It requires mechanical installations for movement to:
- withstand loads required for normal use; be built to avoid accidents and injury; and
- safeguard people in the event of overload or emergency.
