Description

This standard provides you with the principles of lead using the atomic absorption method in which the sample is dissolved in a mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acids and evaporated to a low volume.

After filtration, the solution is diluted to a suitable volume and the lead content is determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry.

The method is recommended for lead contents between 0.01 and 1 %.

BS 1728-20 exemplifies the lead using the atomic absorption method for the analysis of aluminium and aluminium alloys.
