This standard specifies requirements for carbon, low alloy and high alloy steel castings for pressure and general engineering purposes. Includes appendices setting out purchasing guidelines and indicating suitable grades for specific applications.

Scope

1. Guidelines to purchasers on requirements that must be specified and those that must be agreed upon at the time of enquiry and/or order are given in Appendix A.
2. A summary of chemical composition and tensile properties of steels included in this standard is given in Appendix B, which also provides guidance in the selection of grades for specific applications.
