Description

This determination arose from the decision of the authority to refuse to issue a code compliance certificate for a 1-year-old house because it was not satisfied that the weatherboard wall cladding complied with certain clauses of the Building Code.

The matter to be determined was therefore whether the authority was correct to refuse to issue a code compliance certificate due to concerns regarding the weatherboard fixings.

It was considered whether the weatherboard fixing system complied with Clause E2 External Moisture and Clause B2 Durability of the Building Code.

This determination was limited to the weatherboard fixings and did not consider other matters relating to the house.
