Description

The purpose of this Act is to protect the environment, and the health and safety of people and communities, by preventing or managing the adverse effects of hazardous substances and new organisms.

Scope

The storage and use of hazardous substances is subject to this Act and Regulations, ‘Gazette’ notices and Group Standards issued under the Act. Buildings used for the storage or use of hazardous substances therefore must comply with that legislation as well as the Building Code.
