Description

This British Standard, a part of the BS 7036 series, provides guidance on the  specific safety recommendations applicable to the following types of powered sliding doors:

  • a) single, bi-parting and telescopic straight sliding doors; and
  • b) single and bi-parting curved sliding doors and prismatic doors; and
  • c) folding doors.

The aim of this standard is to give guidance to manufacturers, suppliers, installers, specifiers, occupiers and property owners on the specific recommendations for the provision, installation, safe operation and maintenance of powered sliding doors with a view to safeguarding traffic against the risk of accidents. It is not intended to cover the manufacture or design of powered sliding door operating systems except where the products, components or devices have a bearing on safety.
