BCA 1996, Volume One (First Edition) is a uniform set of technical provisions for the design and construction of buildings and other structures throughout Australia, which allows for variations in climate and geological or geographic conditions.

Volume One pertains to Class 2 to 9 buildings, which are multi-residential, commercial, industrial and public buildings.

Adopted by States and Territories (excluding NT, SA and Vic) on 1 July 1997. Adopted by NT on 7 January 1998, SA on 1 January 1998 and Vic on 1 August 1997.
