Description

This Standard specifies methods for determining the resistance to infiltration of assembled elastomeric seal joints and fittings with inspection and test openings. The methods allow for external hydrostatic pressure or internal vacuum, and with or without diametral distortion.

Scope

The tests in Clause 2 allow for two options for testing of infiltration of inspection and test openings and elastomeric seal joints without diametral distortion, by application of either an external hydrostatic pressure or an internal vacuum.

The test in Section 3 describes an internal vacuum test conducted on an elastomeric seal joint whilst a specified diametral distortion is applied to the pipe spigot.
