Description

The DINEX Building Design Method is a controlled design method for creating site-specific plans and specifications, as defined by section 7 of the Building Act 2004, for building consent applications, and amendments to the consent (including minor variations).

The Dinex Building Design Method is intended to be used for designing buildings that are within the requirements of Section 6: Conditions and Limitations of Use: Item 2 on page 3 of this certificate.

Scope

1. The Dinex Building Design Method is certified for creating site specific plans and specifications, as defined by section 7 of the Building Act 2004, for building consent applications, and amendments to the consent provided:

  • a) each page of the plans and specifications produced under this certificate and submitted for building consent shall bear the mark of conformity and certificate number, and the building consent application shall include a signed and dated DINEX Design Summary/Declaration, which includes a confirmation that producer statements have been provided by relevant engineers to Dinex,
  • b) each page of the plans and specifications produced under this certificate and submitted as amendments shall bear the mark of conformity and certificate number, and shall include a signed and dated DINEX Design Summary/Declaration – Amendment

2. The DINEX Building Design Method is certified for buildings:

  • a) of the following classified uses:
    • i) Housing (Building Code Clauses A1 2.0.2, 2.0.3, 2.0.4)
    • ii) Communal Residential (Building Code Clause A1 3.0.2 (Community service)
    • iii) Outbuildings (Building Code Clause A1 7.0.1) limited to garages, carports.
    • iv) Ancillary (Building Code Clause A1 8.0.1) limited to retaining walls, fences (excluding fencing of a swimming pool), free standing outdoor fireplace, and detached decking and pergolas, and
  • b) less than 10m building height, and
    c) design risk score ≤20 when calculated using the E2/AS4 risk matrix, and
  • d) located in:
    • i) any seismic, snow, wind and exposure zones, as defined in NZS3604:2011 Timber-framed building and AS/NZS 1170.0:2002 Structural design actions, and
    • ii) any climate zone, as defined in Acceptable Solution H1/AS1

3. Compliance with Clauses E1.3.3 (e) and G13.3.3 is subject to the approvals of the relevant network utility operators for surface water drainage systems affecting an outfall, and connections to sewer.
